Star Jars
Create a galaxy in a jar!
This is a versatile, inexpensive and unique party craft that kids can enjoy even when the excitement of the party is over. Consider this craft for a princess, fairy, undersea, superhero, or outer space party for girls and boys.

Craft Materials:
- Glass jars with lids (one for each child)
- Water
- Light corn syrup
- Liquid food color
- Duct tape
- Permanent Marker
- Glitter, sequins or Mylar star confetti
- Fabric, tissue paper and ribbon (optional)
- Plastic beads shapes or mini figurines (optional)
Before the Party:
- Thoroughly wash the jars and lids.
- Use a permanent marker to write the guest’s names on the bottom of the jars.
- Open glitter and and other craft supply packages.
- Cut squares of fabric or tissue and the ribbon to decorate the top of the jars.
- Consider making a jar before hand to get a feel for how much syrup and water and food color to use.
Party Time:
- Give each child their jar and lid.
- Fill the jar about halfway with water.
- Add corn syrup until the the jar is full almost to the top.
- Add a few drops of food color.
- Add glitter, sequins or Mylar star confetti.

- Close the jar securely.
- Tape the lid to the jar with duct tape for extra security against leaking.
- To decorate the top just wrap a piece of fabric or tissue around the top and tie it in place with ribbon.
1-2-3 Party Craft Tips:
- Plastic beads or mini figurines will add to the craft theme. For example give each child a mini astronaut figurine for an outer-space party, ocean beads for a mermaid party or a mini action figure for a superhero party.
- If the jars are too full there is less movement, leave a little space.
- This craft can be adapted to also be a snow globe craft for a winter party or snowman party by using less corn syrup and instead of sequins use white glitter and crushed egg shells. Secure a decoration to the lid such as a plastic snowman.
