Halloween Rice Krispie Treat Pops
Rice Krispie treats in Halloween costumes
I’m all for cutting corners when planning a party. Bakery cupcakes or pre-packaged party favors certainly come in handy and I feel no shame! So when I saw these Halloween themed Rice Krispie treats at my market, I thought I’d grab them to give as favors at our Halloween party. Until I realized they would cost over $100.00 for 20 kids! Saving time is one thing, but wasting money on a Halloween treat I can make myself is silly. I’d rather spend money on party games the kids will enjoy or Halloween Props and Decorations
.

You’ll Need:

Directions:
To achieve a thick marshmallow treat like the ones you see in this photo, grease and prepare a 9×13 inch pan. You may need more than one pan. Measure cookie cutters before determining the depth because I almost couldn’t cut mine all the way through.
- After following your recipe, press the warm marshmallow rice mixture firmly in the pan using a buttered spatula.
- Let the bars set for several hours until they are very firm but not too hard.
- Use the cookie cutters to cut the marshmallow treats into pumpkins, candy corn or ghosts.

To make the pumpkin:
- Lay out a sheet of parchment paper.
- Melt the orange candy melts in a microwavable bowl, following the directions on the package. Dip the front of the pumpkin into the orange melts, or you can spoon the melted candy on the front. Gently shake of excess. Chill to set.
- Repeat with a second coat of orange. Before the candy hardens, sprinkle green nonpareils on the top to make the stem of the pumpkin.
- Dip the lollipop stick into the melted orange chocolate and insert into the bottom of the candy corn.
- Leave until the candy has hardened.
To make the candy corn:
- Lay out a sheet of parchment paper.
- Melt the white candy melts in a microwavable bowl, following the directions on the package. Dip the front of candy corn treat or you can spoon the melted candy on the front. Set it aside on parchment paper while you complete the step with the other cookies. Chill until the white candy melt has hardened.
- Repeat with another layer of white to achieve the smooth texture and chill to set.
- Melt the orange candy melts. Dip the bottom of the triangle treat into the orange
- Gently shake off excess and place it on the parchment paper.
- Before the orange begins to harden sprinkle yellow nonpareils on the bottom third of the treat to complete the candy corn.
- Dip the lollipop stick into the melted orange chocolate and insert into the bottom of the candy corn.
- Leave until the candy has hardened.
To make the ghost:
- Lay out a sheet of parchment paper.
- Melt the white candy melts in a microwavable bowl, following the directions on the package. Dip the front of treat or you can spoon the melted candy on the front. Set it aside on parchment paper while you complete the step with the other ghosts. Chill until the candy has hardened.
- Repeat with another layer of white to achieve the smooth texture add the eyes while the chocolate is still warm.
- You can also use a fork to hold the ghost and completely cover the treat the second time and then add the eyes. But I found the white chocolate was too much and took over the taste of the marshmallow treat.
- Dip the lollipop stick into the melted white chocolate and insert into the bottom of the ghost.
- Leave until the candy has hardened.
Once the treats are completely set, wrap them in plastic wrap or package them in clear plastic treat bags from the craft store.
1-2-3 Tips:
- I used a cup more rice Krispies than my recipe called for, which made the mixture, thicker, firmer and easier to cut.
- Do not cover the pops in plastic when they are hot, it will create condensation.
